The City of San Antonio is helping students excel by:

  • Bringing San Antonio business, academic, and government leaders together to attract the Air Force "Cyber Command" (24th Air Force) to San Antonio and ensure its success
  • Creating the Cyber Innovation and Research Consortium to bring together area colleges and universities to support cyber education, training, research and development
  • Providing affordable boot camp training and scholarships through the University of Texas at San Antonio to increase the number of individuals with cybersecurity professional certifications, doubling the number in less than three years
  • Identifying and promoting the Air Force Association's CyberPatriot program as an opportunity to identify schools and individuals interested in cybersecurity 
  • Finding volunteer Mentors to assist Coaches and Competitors
  • Organizing the San Antonio Mayor's Cyber Cup Competition and Awards Luncheon to recognize and reward local teams
  • Procuring internships for the entire ITSA CyberPatriot III team in the Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team operations center of the 24th Air Force during the summer of 2011
  • Establishing the Texas Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development Council, which provides recommendations to strengthen Texas cyber infrastructure, academic programs, and economic development efforts
  • Working with the Air Force Association, Alamo Chapter to recruit 36 San Antonio area teams for CyberPatriot IV and holding three clinics sharing technical instruction for Coaches and team Competitors
  • Recognizing local CyberPatriot IV teams and presenting the San Antonio Mayor's Cyber Cup and other prizes and academic scholarships to their top three teams, students, and Coaches
  • Hosting an annual Cyber Security Caucus Summit with cybersecurity leaders from the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Energy, and the White House in conjunction with the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition
